The Story of Prince EVA: Rapper, Author, Activist, Visionary

Prince Eva. Biologically, I go by the name Prince Victor Ayang Echija. My state name Prince EVA is a representative of my biological name. I started music specifically rapping from Calabar and Ikom(Komton), Cross River State. In the school with folks and on the street with peers, rap has been the integral part of hobbies, my divine gift. First studio job was ‘One in a million girl’ a single where I was features by Horchtypa. The song was produced by a renowned Artist and Producer T-One. 

Years had passed by since that track was recorded, I didn’t record anymore. I was just writing lyrics as a hobby. Sometimes I write poetry and novels commercially. I have 4 published books ( Rivers in the Desert, Earnings of costly assumptions, Tap or Gutter, The intelligent and The Smart ) each of those novels contains poetry works. In my university days I was a comrade, I didn’t take part in social activities like dancing or singing. I was a unionist and activist. But at night I will make out time writing lyrics and poems. Even when I didn’t find need recording, my passion for song writing never waved. During my NYSC days in Kaduna I was writing songs but never recorded one.  

 My music reawakening took a full force when I arrived Jos, after my Passing Out Parade in Kaduna. I thought it will be a grave sin, should I go to the grave with a talent buried while alive. My recorded and published work as a musical artist in Jos was ‘More Than A player’ produced by Crazy Bless. That happens to be my Debut Album. And my second Album (Hustlers Meal) followed immediately. Now, I’m about to drop an EP that will redefine the purpose of music in Africa. Music is meant to be a demonstration of art. It’s very obvious only a few artist in Africa mostly Nigeria have this credibility. This sterling EP titled ‘Mansa Musa’ is beyond combination of sounds that goes loud through and out the ears. It goes straight into the soul reawakening Africans within the black shores and in diaspora. The EP reveals and promotes the cultural, political and economic heritage and achievements of Africa. Tracks like Mansa Musa, Queen Sheba and Blessed Man only reminds African men and women how royal they are. Track like ‘I Dare’ is a motivational song telling struggles nothing is impossible. ‘Peace Chant’ is a track intended to unite Tribes and Religions in Nigeria and Africa at large in broader views. If we prioritize our complexion in our nations, then no other factors can come in between. As Africans, when we say complexion we don’t mean your skin color, we mean your originality.  

 Well, not withstanding continental or racial differences, anyone from any part of the world irrespective of race, religion or tribe can vibe to the EP. Its lyrical depth is wow. Also the production and energy is quite amazing. The songs are very educative and informative too, so don’t get carried away by the beats that you don’t listen to the lyrics.
